Richard Foot is a UK based commercial photographer specialising in striking architectural images.
Having been interested in photography for many years, it was during a location shoot along the canals of Wolverhampton for college that I took the image 'Corrugated Corner'. This image taken in Black & White at a dramatic angle with high contrast went on to form the basis of my work from then on.
Since then on my travels both in the UK and internationally I have photographed many iconic buildings designed by renowned architects such as Lord Foster and Frank R Gehry. The sculptural forms and dynamic lines that make up these structures are my canvas. It is not only the iconic but also the derelict that interests me as it shows the evolving built environment we live in today.
I have been influenced by two contemporary German photographers amongst others who use black & white to capture architectural subjects in different ways, Horst Hamann who shoots vertical panoramas, and Manuela Höfer who uses a square format. To me it's all about looking at the shapes and details of buildings in an alternative way to create visually striking images as well as making people think about architecture in a different way.
